On the same day that we write about the rush of big money to solar and how it will create a trend of acquisitions, Sunrun buys the Mainstream Energy portfolio including the residential division of REC Solar, distributor AEE Solar and SnapNrack. REC Solar (different than REC Group) will continue to operate as a commercial solar company independent from the expanded Sunrun team.
The current state of solar reminds of a quote by Greenstart partner Mitch Lowe, “Cleantech is dead, like the Internet was in 2000.”
