The solar industry loves anytime a Wall Street firm downgrades utilities or talks about the threat solar is creating for the electric sector. More importantly solar should understand the relationship of utilities in the solar industry. Look around, what solar farm isn’t owned or capitalized by utilities? Solar firms are partnering with utilities on an ongoing basis. Word has it that SEIA will now let utilities on the board when it used to be against the bylaws. Utilities have no problem with solar anywhere but their regulated monopoly and that is the basis for all of their business decisions and that of some solar companies.
