The Talking Points. Yesterday I hosted our (FTC Solar) earnings call. While most of my commentary that you can listen/read to on our investor page were centered around the amazing reception I have gotten from the solar community, I was certainly asked about the policy outlook given the election results. So I want to share with you what I said because I think the unknown is drowning out the things we do know.

How US Reclaims Manufacturing Leadership. There’s definitely some hyperbole in the media covering China’s role in US solar manufacturing. The reality is that the U.S. ceded leadership on solar manufacturing to China decades ago. China headlines may generate clicks, but at the end of the day, there’s times when we need to partner with and leverage China’s manufacturing expertise to re-shore elements of the solar value chain. Companies like Invenergy hired more than 1,500 Americans to produce 5GW of solar modules through their majority stake in Illuminate, using Longi solar technology.
